About Us

The Police Community Clubs of Great Britain [PCCGB] do many things, all of which are aimed at providing a safer and more inclusive life for the most disadvantaged children and young people in our communities. With regard to youth and community projects, the PCCGB concentrate on three themes:

Education

Through the provision of booklets, all based on a theme surrounding our exclusive characters 'Barney and Echo' we seek to educate children and their carers on numerous subjects relating to the promotion of life skills, increasing self-esteem and the development of motivation in young people.

The booklet contains key points surrounding bullying and vandalism and addresses a difficult and sensitive subject area which has formed part of the schools curriculum.

We also have just released our latest characters 'The Dims Witts' which deal with the very serious issue of lethal weapons being held by young children today. These books are aimed at both Key Stage 1 & 2.

Citizenship

We support projects, which seek to develop children and young people into good and active citizens who can make a positive contribution to their communities. These will include, activities to tackle social exclusion, truancy, bullying, working with excluded pupils and many other community-based initiatives.

Sport and Leisure

Through our established clubs we support projects that seek to provide a stable environment for children and young people and which promote moral values. Examples will include initiatives, which open up sporting activities for our own and other community sports clubs, which target particularly vulnerable or disadvantaged children.

The potential benefit of the work carried out by this organisation is huge. It has a national network of 'volunteer' professionals to support the development and delivery of projects and a unique means of tapping into the ideas of children and young people. The concept is innovative, focused and at the forefront of current thinking on working with young people, tackling social exclusion and building sustainable communities.

It is important to note that the PCCGB is administered 'entirely' by serving and retired police officers and Home Office staff.
